Happy Wednesday! A HUGE Pom Pom, another Crocheted Crusher Hat, and a Granny Square with a Heart

1

I hope everyone is having a good week? Here it is already Wednesday and tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Are you ready? John and I don’t do anything special for each other on Valentine’s Day; like I always say if I want to do something special for him or anyone else I don’t need to have a special day just for that, right? Anyway if you have special plans for Valentine’s Day or Night I hope you have a wonderful one.

Now on to the crochet front; just before I went to bed on Sunday night I couldn’t resist making this huge multi-colored pom pom from my new pom pom maker. Wow, it took quite a bit of yarn and it felt very fiddly since I used different scraps of yarn. I placed my hand above it so that you can see the size compared to my hand. I do love the way it turned out, now I just need to figure out what I might do with it? Anyone have any ideas? If you do I would love to hear them.

Then Monday morning I finished up my Sister-in-Laws “Crocheted Crusher Hat.” I know it looks a lot like the other one but this one is quite a bit smaller and I took the button from the other one and sewed it onto this one. I hope she loves it as much as I loved making it for her. I’m going to try and deliver it to her this week some time and then I’ll get a picture of her in it and share it with all of you.

This granny square with a heart is one that we learned to make at the KS My Stitch crochet guild January meeting. I love the way it turned out and I noticed after I pinned it down that I had used my pins that have hearts on the ends of them. I bet you thought I planned it that way, right? I really didn’t it just happened that way. Oh well enough of that for now, I have to run (not really run but walk really fast) so that I can get started on another crochet project. Have a great day and I’ll talk to you again on Friday.

  1. what to do with a giant multi-coloured pompom….how about a whole string of them, like pompom bunting?

    • Jill,

What a great idea! I might just have to do that. Thanks for the idea.

      Hugs,
      Tamara

  2. That huge pom-pom could be attached to a big hat? LOL I dunno what you could do with it, to be honest. The hat looks great, as does the heart granny square. Both kids have their normal activities Thursday night, so it’s business as usual in our neck of the woods.

    • Hi Jeanne!

Thanks for stopping by to comment and I always love hearing about your week. 🙂

      Hugs,
      Tamara

  3. I am straining my brain to think of what to do with the big pom pom. They would look good on the front of a halloween costume or you could fill a basket with different color pom poms and let your little nieces and nephews play with them. Or else you and John could throw them at each other. Just kidding. I love them because they are colorful. Also love the crusher hat. Jerald and I are going out to eat with friends and then coming home and probably watching T.V. We are pretty boring people. Love you

    • Hi Sue!

That’s ok if you can’t think of anything to do with the giant pom pom. I’m not sure whether after winding all that yarn around and around and my hands cramping up whether I would want my nieces or nephews to get crazy with them. Although it depends how long they lie around, I might get tired of them and want someone to throw them around. 🙂 Thanks for straining your brain for me this morning. 😉 It sounds like you will have a good Valentine’s Day; it’s always nice to get together with friends.

      Love you too,
      Tamara

  4. I love the colorful pompom and think a basket full of them would be really cute. You could sell the as a cute cat toy.

Love the crusher hat so much I may eventually try it myself -someday.

I’m trying to learn to follow a pattern better and I’m stuck on the last round of the heart block, so may ask for some help on Monday.

    See you then.

  5. Hi Tamara ~ I’m here … ‘better late than never’, right? 😉
Beautiful BIG pom-pom. I think Sue’s idea is great – for you & John to throw it at each other. Just for fun. No pain involved. LOL! And Linda’s idea was a thought I had also, of course –> a cat toy. I suppose a kitten would be more apt to play with it than an adult cat … that’s my thinking “according to Miss Emma”. HaHa!

Your Crusher Hats are great. Can’t wait to see it on your sis-in-law!

    KATcha later, girlfriend!

    • Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. It’s always nice to hear what you think about things.

      Love and Hugs,
      Tamara
