It’s Almost the Weekend, Hanging out with Nieces, Nephews, Mom, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Little Crocheted Circles, and Another Can Coat

I know I always say that I’m glad the weekend is finally here, but I am glad. 🙂 Especially this weekend, because my niece Sarah is bringing some of her friends from Oklahoma to Wichita so that we can teach them to crochet. I do love this picture of my brother Terry with Sarah and of course the photo was taken by my other niece Jessica who is a photographer. Jessica is married to Sarah’s brother Zach. (Hi Zach, wish you could be here too)

she’s also bringing my nephew Keegan and her brother. You may remember he’s the one that’s just 6 months younger than my Joshua. And if you don’t remember; now you know. It’s still too early to know whether I can talk him into learning to crochet.

My sister Jackie will be there to lend a helping hand with crochet tips.

Of course my Mom will be there since we will be using her house for the festivities. I just love this picture of my Mom with 2 of my 3 sister-in-laws. 🙂

My sister-in-law and Sarah’s Mom, Cathy will be there too, and Sarah and I are really hoping that she will want to learn to crochet also. Cathy is also bringing

my nephew Jacob and his wife Kim along with their daughter Lilly. I already taught Kim to crochet at the same time that I taught Sarah, so I think she will have some special crochet tips too to help with my teaching.

Along with crocheting I will be making lunch for everyone. On the menu will be bean, meat, and cheese burritos, or soft shell tacos (make it your own style), I will also have a pot of chicken tortilla soup, and chips and homemade salsa will be served. I wish all of you could come to my Mom’s house for the day; wouldn’t that be fun? Not so much for my Mom, but for me it would be fun. 🙂

Well it doesn’t seem like I have accomplished much in the way of crocheting this week. But I did manage to make 34 circles to fit in each corner of my Dahlia Throw. I love how the circles look all stacked up together; they kind of remind me of balloons.

I also finished another can coat.

This one is going to stay here with me because the colors go perfect in my upstairs bathroom and I do love how it looks up against the turquoise walls.

I think I will love it sitting there on my sink with the pink Q-Tips in it. I love making these can coats and jar jackets because it allows me to use up some more of my little pieces of sport weight cotton yarn. So do you all have special plans for the weekend? I would love to hear all about them or even if you don’t have anything planned I would love to hear that too. Make it a great one whatever you decide to do and Happy Crafting!

  1. I wish I could be there as well! It sounds like I will be missing out on an awesome weekend. And I bet it won’t take too much persuasion to get Keegan to crochet – I think secretly he really wants to Haha!

  2. Hi Zach,

I wish you and Jessica could be here too, then we would just have to drag your Dad over and we would have all of you here. I hope you have a wonderful weekend in spite of not being able to join us.

    Love you,
    Aunt Tammy

  3. What a fun weekend you do have planned. They are in for a treat with your cooking. I know I am so fulfilled when I get to teach someone to crochet, watching that lightbulb moment, then watch it get brighter and brighter as they push forward. Have fun my friend!

    • Hi Susie,

I’m with you about the light bulb thing. I love watching the new people who didn’t think that they could learn and then when they do; VOILA it’s like a lightbulb turning on. Thanks for stopping by to comment.

      Love you,
      Tamara

  4. Sounds like a great weekend with your family there. Wish I could be there but we have lots going on also. Today I have made an appointment for a message (can’t wait) and tonite we are going to some friends for a music jam. Right now I’m making some crack to take to the music jam. Tomorrow grandson Joshua will be here and I have a food showdown with the 4-H kids tomorrow also. I will probably need another message again by that time. Worked at the shelter yesterday and tore off wall paper so we can get ready to paint next week. The list goes on……………….. Have a great day. sw

    • Hi Sue,

It sounds like you will have a very nice weekend too. Thanks for sharing your weekend with me. I’m not sure about the crack thingy though? You may have to explain that. You should be really relaxed once you have your massage. I need one of those really bad.

      Love,
      Tamara

      • Tammy, crack is this really wonderful caramel puff corn with almond bark drizzled on top of it. It is called crack because it is so addicting. I gave some away for Christmas gifts and everybody went crazy with it. The stores can’t keep the puff corn on the shelves.

I went to the message therapist and she worked on me for an hour and a half. She wants me in every week for 6 weeks hoping she can get the knots out of my tight muscles. The good thing is she gives senior discounts and I was proud that I qualified. ha ha

      • Oh, thank you for clearing that up. I will have to try making that stuff some time when I’m going somewhere that I need to take an extra special treat. Thanks for the information. Love you Cuz!

  5. Oh Tamara! Such great photos! Yah, love the one of your mom being kissed on each cheek by her DIL’s.

Love “the balloons”!! [That’s what I thought they look like too.] That is a GREAT idea to put those on your dahlia corners. Can’t wait to see the completion!

What a FUN weekend for y’all…..

    • Thanks Kat for liking the photos and the one of my Mom is soooo sweet. Thanks for stopping by to comment.

      Love you,
      Tamara
