The days of summer have brought back sweet memories of my last year with Mom. As I was preparing my photos for this post I looked back to this time last year and found this photo of me and Mom sitting toe to toe doing the things that we loved to do. I am so thankful that I have these photos and memories of Mom at her home.

Last year was very hard as we watched our Mother dwindle away before our eyes. I loved this photo of my cousin Brandy on her last visit to see her Aunt Toots. I don’t think I actually got to share this photo of them last year, because of my schedule.

Remembering back I loved following Mom as she wandered around her home and outside to her garden that Jarred planted for her. I’m so glad that I captured these moments in time.

She was always so careful to not step on the plants and of course I was so afraid that she would trip and fall. But she never did. As I look back to those days a year ago, I cherish every moment that I was able to spend with my Mom.

Mom loved her okra plants and would gather them as they grew. Sometimes she would miss one and it would get quite large. She would always tell me that if you let them get too big you can’t even cut them.

Mom would not have approved of me leaving this one on the stock for this long. I am so surprised by the size of my okra plants and I can’t believe how easy it is to miss finding these things that grow right next to the stock of the plant. I gave this one to Jennifer and she said it was good. 😉

I can only laugh and think that Mom would have been so proud of me growing such large and tall stocks of okra. That’s me with the glasses on. 😉

Can you believe how tall that stock of okra is? I am so fortunate that I have a wonderful husband who plows and seeds the ground so that we can reap the benefits of the garden that we have. And I get to enjoy picking the vegetables just like my dear Mom did a year ago.

Anyway, I’m thankful that my Mom passed on her passion to create. I have been able to make several headband/ear warmers this last week and what do you think of my new rotating pegboard display case? I love it and think it will be a great asset to my booth this year. I love the turquoise color that John has painted it, I think it will help all of the crochet pieces stand out.

Here are the three infinity scarves that I finished up this week all rolled up on that wire shelf that I was telling you about.

Here are a couple of pairs of American Girl Doll slippers. I plan on making more of these, but I have to concentrate on more little girl hats right now.

Of course this is the most fun part; making the flower and choosing just the right button for the center of each one.

And I will end with this cute little guy. Mr. Owl will not be at the Kansas Barn Sale; since I have chose to keep him for myself. He is made from the yarn that my sweet sister-in-law gave to me from one of her many trips to New Mexico. She purchase d it from the farmer who raised the sheep, spun it into yarn and hand dyed it. I can’t wait to see what my sister-in-law thinks of him. Well, I hope everyone has had a wonderful Labor Day weekend, I know I did. I feel like I have accomplished quite a bit and that always makes me happy. Happy Tuesday, I love you all!
The pictures of your Mom are such precious memory triggers! Thank you for sharing, and I’m sending a big HUG to you.
I love the items you have made; I’m especially intrigued by those hats!!!
Take care!
