A Crochet Sweater, Syrus, and John’s Expressions

Ok, I couldn’t help myself. I saw this pattern on Facebook and wanted to try my hand at making a cute sweater. I showed Catherine at Creation Station and she thought it would be great to offer it up as a class. Of course it will have to be a three session class, with 2 weeks in between.

1I love the way the James C. Brett Marble yarn is working up into this cool sweater pattern. I can’t remember the name of the pattern but the thing that I love about it, is that the pattern ranges from Small up to 6X. Now that covers just about everyone don’t you think?

I started on this on Sunday morning and after taking the bottom rows out 2 or 3 times, I finally got it right.3One sleeve done and the other one will be finished real soon. Then the sweater is finished off with some rows of edging forming button holes and a tab to sew buttons. I will keep you all posted on when the sweater class will be.

IMG_0457The picture of the flannel fabrics from last post are going to be turned into 2 sided, 12 inch squares, surged on the edges (by my wonderful sister). Then I will crochet around the edges and place them in the Picket Fence Quilt Company store to sell an upcoming crochet edging class on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. We will have 2 – 2 sided, 12 inch squares kitted up with thread in each one and I will provide 2 different edging patterns for you to learn. Hopefully with the smaller pieces of fabric provided we will be able to get all the way around them in the time allotted. 🙂

4Thursday I got a text from my sister-in-law Cathy saying that her son and grandson, (my nephew Zach and my great nephew Syrus) were in town, so I went to see them at Cathy’s Mother’s house. I was very surprised to see my brother Terry sitting there as well.

It was nice to be able to just sit and watch little Syrus run around playing. I’m not sure, but I think Syrus must think that his Aunt Tammy takes way too many pictures. 😉 Oh well, he has to be used to it since his Mom is a photographer. LOL My other sister-in-law Ann stopped by too. I don’t know if I have said this often enough; but I think I have some of the best sister-in-laws ever?

5You know after I showed those photos of John and how I told you that he doesn’t smile very often? We were sitting at dinner the other night and he asked me if I would like to try something (I can’t remember what it was, but I knew I wouldn’t like it) and I closed one of my eyes and rolled the other one in the back of my head (I guess?). I’m not quite sure what I did, but John said,

6

“You and Jennifer do this weird thing with your eyes” and then he tried to show me with his eyes how we do it.

7I thought I was going to lose it and I couldn’t help but take some pictures of him. Even though he doesn’t smile very often, he sure knows how to make me laugh. 🙂 Anyway, what have you all been up to? Are you doing anything exciting over the weekend?

  1. i’m trying to work out what that foamy looking stuff in John’s glass could be…? Whatever it was, it sure makes him pull funny faces. xx

    • It’s a frozen margarita with salt on the rim. 🙂 HAHAHAHAHA!!!

      • well, no wonder he has a sour expression. He needs a sweet cider. Or a tomato beer.

  2. Oh my…you got that much done on a sweater since Sunday?! You are so speedy! The colors in the yarn are beautiful. I’ve no doubt you are going to show a finished sweater in the next few days. I think I understand what you said you were doing with the fabric. It sounds like it will be very nice. And what a lovely visit you all had. If one doesn’t read what you were explaining, those pictures can sure be misconstrued! LOL

    • HAHAHAHAHA Jeanne!!!! John is hilarious and he doesn’t even know it. Have a great weekend my friend.

  3. James Brett yarns are gorgeous. I am a big fan. Now what we need is John to take a picture of you doing the thing with your eyes! Have a good weekend. Cathy x

    • Cathy, that will be the next photo that I share with you. Have a great weekend my friend. Hugs, Tamara

  4. Hi Tamara!
Looking forward to seeing your completed sweater. What size are you making?
So nice you got to visit with some family. How did Terry escape your camera lens? LOL
HAHAHA!!! Yes! John certainly makes us laugh .. with thanks to your camera lens. tee-hee! I am sooo looking forward to seeing a photo of *you* doing your special eye-roll. Maybe you can get one of Jackie too, next time you see her. 😉

IT’S FRIDAY!!! Have a super weekend .. the last one in March already!
    Loads of Love ~

    • Hi Kat! The size that I chose was a large to fit on the mannequin at the yarn shop. But it measures more like a medium. It almost looks like a childrens sweater in the photo. It was a very fun sweater to make and hope that a lot of people will sign up for my class. I was so sad that I didn’t ask Terry and Zach to pose with Syrus. Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by to comment. Love you, Tamara
