Surprise in the Mail, My New Rag Rugs Home, and More Hats

1

My week seems to be moving quite quickly and that is always good. The sooner I get to the weekend the happier I will be. I arrived home on Tuesday after work to find a package postmarked to me. It’s so exciting to receive mail from another country.

2

John had called me after he got the mail and told me that I had a package from some other country but he couldn’t figure out which country it was from. Well, all I had to do is turn over the package and look at the back and found that it was from South Africa. We both had to laugh because he said he never thought about turning the package over.

3

Anyway, I knew right away that the something in the package was the beautiful shawl that I had won in the February Made It Challenge that Maryanne organizes on her blog called Woolhogs. You can read about it here.

4

John said I was being a dork because I couldn’t stop touching the oh-so soft yarn.

5

He really thought I had lost my mind when I picked it up and touched it to my face it and I stuck my nose in it too. I still believe I can smell South Africa in the yarn. LOL (the color in the pictue turned out so lousy I just turned it black and white)

6

Look at the very cute little card and the tiny lady bug.

7

Of course John had to get his nicely tanned hands in the photo. (He’s always so helpful)

8

I will have to get a better picture of the beautiful purple shawl when I have all black on and when I can go outside without either freezing or blowing away. I love my new purple shawl so much and can’t wait to wear it tomorrow.

9

Oh by the way here is the little extra surprise in my package; these beautiful cotton yarns all the way from South Africa. This is the kind of yarn that I used to make Jill’s “Tamara Scarf” out of when I was testing her pattern. It is so soft and I love the colors. Thank you so much Maryanne for hosting such a fun contest.

10

Anyway I think I finally found the perfect place for my new colorful rag rug. I think it just pops in my upstairs bathroom with the aqua walls and pink accents. What do you think?

11

I have also been making more hats from the Bernat Mosaic Vivid that I got at Creation Station on Saturday. Catherine had skeins of yarn that were single from 4 different dye lots and for some reason I can never pass those single skeins up without feeling sorry for them. So Saturday was no different, so I bought all 4 of them. I love how this hat turned out with all its stripeyness. How rude of me last time posting the pictures of the hats but not sharing the pattern details with you. For both of the hats here I used CrocheTrends patterns. This one is the Newsboy Hat and you can find it here.

12

This hat was made with the same color-way of Vivid as the previous one but they both had different dye lots. I can’t even tell that this hat was made with one and the rest is made with the other. Anyway this hat pattern is called Amada Hat and you can find it here. I want to thank you all for the sweet comments that you left me from my last post. I really do appreciate all your comments and likes. It would be cool if everyone who stops by here would just click the Like button so that I could see how many people actually read this far into my post. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good week and would love to hear all about it.

I couldn’t help but notice your hands in the b&w picture. They looked so much like my moms hands. wish I had a picture of Moms hands to compare. Love the crochet rug and the newsboy hats. You are so creative . Love you girl. sw

  7. Is that first hat your pattern in the Mosaic? I really love it!
    Packages in the mail, yippy!

    • Hi Susie, No. The Newsboy hat is from CrocheTrends patterns who I got the other hat patterns from. I could have made it from my pattern but I knew that my pattern takes more yarn than just one skein. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. Love and Hugs, Tamara

  8. Congrats again on being a lucky, lucky girl to win that! Thanks for sharing the links too 🙂

    • Thank you so much Lisa! I never won anything until I started entering contests on blogs and I have won two times on Woolhogs so I really feel lucky. Love and Hugs, Tamara

  9. Well, now that WordPress is finally cooperating with me again, I’m baaack!
How VERY exciting to get mail from South Africa!!! Such a beautiful shawl. I am so glad you won because I know how much you appreciate this. You are such a dork. Bwaaaaahaaaaa!!! Hey – did you retaliate and tell John *he* is the dork for including his well-tanned hands in that photo? LOL!!! 😀
So very sweet of Maryanne to include those skeins of yarn. We all know you will put them to very good use.

Yes, your rag rug goes quite nicely in your bathroom.
You are making some very stylish hats!

    Smiles & Hugs ~ Kat
P.S. I would have smelled the shawl too .. and rubbed it against my face!!

    • Thanks for always understanding ME and for not thinking I’m a dork. Love and Hugs, Tamara
