My March Crochet 101 class. I’m so proud of all of them and I appreciate their patience with me.

6

Lunch and an outing with Susie; it’s always nice to be able to have some one on one time with her.

7

Had a great visit with Catherine the owner of Creation Station in Newton and who just happens to be a fellow crocheter.

8

Got a foot massage from my dear husband, I just wished I could remember the funny thing he said to me while he was rubbing my foot. 🙂 (he can’t remember either)

Oh by the way, Mom is feeling better. Which makes me Happy, Happy, Happy! Jackie got her set up with a Life Alert necklace and we are feeling a little more at ease in case she has problems. I just love watching the chickens follow Mom. (They know who feeds them)

I am in love with the yarn from Bernat named Mosaic. I went a little crazy and bought three different colorways when I visited Newton on Saturday. I chose Mineral, Pink Poodle, and Gamut. Out of all of these I like the Gamut best and will probably end up ordering more of it. It’s fun working with this yarn because it reminds me of Noro yarn but it is 100% acrylic. I try and use yarn that my customers can wash and dry without any problems, plus it is more cost effective for me. Anyway, Catherine has a wonderful selection of Bernat “Mosaic” if you are interested go and see her at 605 N. Main.

I am trying to figure out a good way to display my collection of slippers at the Kansas Barn Sale, October 4th. But I don’t think this is going to work; maybe a window frame with chicken wire hung in it and then I can hang them by clothespins. Not sure? Does anyone have any good ideas on how to display slippers? I would love to hear your ideas and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

  1. I love that picture of Catherine. It captures her personality so well. I am glad your mom is feeling better. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you guys since the little scare you had.
I think you could hang the slippers on a clothesline. That would be cute.

    • Hi Donna! I just love that photo of Catherine too and you are so right about capturing her personality; she is such a sweet person. Thank you so much for thinking about us; you are so kind. What a great idea about the clothesline. I think I should have several chairs available too, so that people can sit down and try on the slippers (or not). 😉 Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by to comment. Love and Hugs,Tamara

      • Yes I think yiu would want a chair so people can try them on if they want.

  2. You got all those lovely items made in a week? Wowza! Thanks for sharing the pictures. You really take some neat ones. I’m so relieved to hear your mom is doing better. Whew. I hope you have a lovely weekend. (I don’t know how best to display items, so I’ll leave that to the others)

    • Hi Jeanne! Thanks for loving my crocheted items and for liking my pictures. It’s hard to tell people about how hard I work to get just the right picture. It’s nice of you to notice. I’m sure someone will come up with a great idea for me to display the slippers, so far the clothesline seems to be the best idea to me. Love and Hugs, Tamara

  3. I love all the pictures! that one of Catherine is great — what were you saying to her? I can’t think of a good way to display the slippers, perhaps by size and color? haha some of them look GIANT! I am very glad to see grandma looking well and happy. love you!

    • Hi My Chacho Aaron! Thanks for loving the pictures. I had my mannequin and little step stool out on the front porch and I’m sure the neighbors and passerbyers thought I was nuts. Don’t worry about the display; I’m sure I will come up with something. As for the slippers, I think the largest size is the size that fits you. 🙂 Love you Too, Momma

  4. Love the slippers and I’m trying to think of how best to display them. I like the idea of the clothesline but I’m also thinking of a white lattice panel. Stuff the slippers with tissue paper and hang them to look like flowers on the panel that has been covered with greenery. It’s a little far fetched but just a thought. John is trying to look so innocent while giving your foot massage but we both know his wheels are spinning. lol Glad you got your mom on life alert. We have had my m-I-l on life alert since Christmas and its peace of mind for us. She has used it several times. Have a good week Tammy. Love you much. sw

    • Hi Sue!

Thanks so much for the idea about the lattice. And yes John is trying to look so innocent. But then again the things that he says are so funny and if I don’t write them down right away; we both forget. The life alert thingy was a great idea and seems to make her more comfortable too.

      Love you too,
      Tamara

  5. Hi Tamara! Love this post! Love all the slippers. I like the idea of using a different color for the top ‘rim’ of them. Hanging them on a clothesline at the Barn Sale sounds great .. and some chairs are a must, IMO.
I’m going to have to buy some Bernat Mosaic – tho I don’t have a use in mind for it just yet. heh-heh!
So glad your mom is doing better. And very good to hear she now has a Life Alert necklace!
Got a chuckle out of John’s two-toned skin. LOL! His face is so dark! And you are so fortunate to have him rub your feet. Are you still filling your “Funny Things Said or Done” journal .. that is, when you can remember what funny thing was said or done? Bwaaahaaaa!!! 😀

    HAVE A SUPER-DUPER WEEKEND!!
    Love ya! ~ Kat

    • Hi Kat!

I think I like the clothesline idea as well; because it will not take up a lot of room when packing the van. I always have to take that in to consideration as I figure out display pieces. I think you will love the Bernat Mosaic too even if you just make a scarf or a hat with it. As for the funny things we say and do; yes I am trying to keep a record of them again and will have to share the ones from last year.

      Love you my Friend,
      Tamara

  6. Love the week in pictures idea. When thinking about displaying the slippers I too thought about stuffing them….. So glad your mum is feeling better. Hope you have a fab weekend. Xx

    • Hi Alice!

I think you are so right about stuffing them. The bigger ones seem to just flop. Thanks so much for the kind comments about my Mom. Have a great week.

      Love and Hugs,
      Tamara

  7. The pictures are all wonderful and Tim is correct. Have a great weekend!

    • Hi Linda!

Thanks so much for loving the pictures and I will make sure I tell Tim that you are the same person that he was thinking about.

      Love, Tamara

  8. Love all your crochet items. Very glad your mom is feeling better.
The way we like eggs we should have chickens.

I like the display rack. Look forward to seeing the picture frame idea.

  9. Fun stuff! I especially like the cowl, gray scarf w/fringe n flowers and the gamut color yarn. Love the Chix follerin yer ma! My like is so busy…I sometimes toy with the thought of getting up early to crochet after reading ur delightful posts…Kerry (susie K)

    • Hi Kerry!

Thanks so much for liking my crocheted things and for reading my posts.

      Hugs, Tamara

  10. that Bernat Mosaic looks to die for! And you’ve chosen perfect patterns to show it to its best advantage.
Slippers – actually, I think what you’ve done with the little shelves works really well, but don’t pack them too full. I use an upturned wooden crate and put A SINGLE PAIR of slippers on top – more people seem to notice them that way – and when that’s got their attention, you can wave them over to the HUGE supply on the table next to it. 🙂

    • Thanks Jill for liking the pattern that I chose for the hats and scarves. Of course I love your idea of placing one pair of slippers out for everyone to see. Thanks so much for the advice and for starting me on this slipper adventure. 😉 I hope you have a wonderful week. Love and Hugs, Tamara

  11. Wow, you sure got on to using all that yarn.
Catherine, looks as cute and ornery as she is.
That was such a fun trip!

    • Susie,

I just couldn’t stand it; I had to make things from it right away. I agree with you I captured the essence of Catherine in just the right moment. 😉 I had a great time too.

      Love and Hugs, Tamara
