A Tip, a Fall, and Another Sweet Hat and Pair of Galilee Booties

I have to back up a few days to let you in on a little tip. On Saturday when we woke we had about a half inch of ice all over everything and I went out to start my car with my green Oma slippers on. I was pleasantly surprised that the slippers did not slip, so when I decided to leave the house I slipper my Oma slippers over the top of my regular shoes and wore them all day on Saturday. I walked on the icy sidewalks, parking lots, and I even went into Hancock fabrics without once slipping. I was excited that I had found something that I could walk in without falling on the ice. The real test was to see if the Oma slippers would come out of the washing machine and dryer. I’m happy to report the slippers came out all nice without any holes or anything.

So when I found out that we were supposed to get more snow on Tuesday before I left for work I slipped on my Oma slippers over my boots and left the house.

As I was getting out of my car at work, my feet slipped just a little (didn’t fall) but I managed to get my bags out of the back seat and get into the building with no problem. So-o-o-o-o I was a little surprised when I fell as I went to get back into my car about an hour later to move it so that the snow removal person could clean off the parking lot. Besides hurting my pride (along with my upper thigh, knee, and cutting the top of my middle finger) everything seems to be fine for now. Anyway, I thought my tip for putting crocheted slippers over your shoes to walk in the snow was a good idea until I fell. So I guess never mind about the tip after all.  🙂

Now to the more important things; like crochet. 😉 Here are the most recent things that I finished up. I loved making this little hat and Galilee booties for my Great Niece “Arayah”. I think she will look adorable in these and can’t wait to get a picture of her in them.

I’m also still working on the shawl for Terry and trying to finish up 3 more washcloths for my friend Vici. So what are you all up to? I would love to hear all about it.

  1. Arayah’s hat and shoes are too gorgeous, looking forward to a pic of your great-niece. Am very cross to hear about you falling. Seriously -!!!???? You have to be more careful….. 🙂

    • Hi Jill! Thanks so much for loving the hat and booties. And seriously I was trying to be careful. Out of everyone in the office it has to be me that falls on the ice. I am the one that fell the first time when a huge ice storm came through here in February of 2002. I fell directly on both of my knees and my hands. I made a recordable injury for our health and safety company, which leads to higher insurance rates…yadayada!!!! Now here I go again; at least this time I didn’t go to the doctor so now they call it a near/miss accident. Well for one I can assure you that I didn’t near/miss that pavement that my body hit. 😦 This morning my right leg hurts when I walk, so maybe I should just not walk and stay home to crochet. HAHAHAHAHA!!! Not a chance! I have to get up and go right back out there and try it again, of course without falling.

      Love you my Friend!
      Tamara

  4. busy trying to organize my sewing room again!! LOL and loving the shawl! it looks like me, don’t you think. just staying home.

    • Is this Terry? If it is yes it looks just like you. 🙂

  5. So sorry about your fall. Hope the soreness isn’t to bad. Makes me extra glad to be retired and not have to leave the house until the walks are cleared.
I made a big pot of soup and tried a new recipe for baked salmon. I made do a little baking, if Ray doesn’t.

I am staying inside and playing with yarn and fabric reorganization, I found fabric to donate to a good cause, as well as to make some fun small sewing projects for future gift giving, Also found yarn to make slippers, I got sidetracked and started a stash busting baby blanket, and a stash busting shawl, to add to my WOWs. Hopefully I’ll get something completed before Guild. See you there.

    • Hi Linda!

  6. I always said I’d be better off to just get down on my hands and knees and crawl on that Kansas ice. I knew I’d land on my knees eventually anyway. Sorry to read about your fall. Be careful! Your latest crochet projects are marvelous (as always)!

    Take care of yourself,

    • Thanks so much Anonymous. I hope you didn’t fall. 🙂

  8. Oh that’s who you are. Hi Linda! I plan on taking good care of myself; I have good people that work with me and they escorted me to my car and all I have to do is park in the handicap to go into the building and then someone moves my car for me. 🙂 Love and Hugs, Tamara

  9. Oh Tamara! I thot that was a super tip about the Oma slippers. Do you think you might’ve gotten over-confident in them .. the time that you did fall?? I’m sooo sorry you hurt yourself and hope there won’t be lasting pain!

    • Hi Kat!

I am just fine after my fall. My finger still hurts but only when I bump it, and that seems to be all the time. 😉 Yes the snowy picture was taken out my bedroom window. Thanks so much for loving all the things that I make and for stopping by to tell me so.

      Love you!
