TGIS! I Made it Through my First Week Back to Work

Thank goodness it’s Saturday. I know most of you don’t know this, but I took the week before Thanksgiving and the week of Thanksgiving off so that I could catch up on all the orders that I had to have ready before Christmas. I had a really nice relaxing and sometimes hectic vacation. But all and all I was able to spend some time with Jennifer, Megan, Mom, guild members, students, I even traveled to Oklahoma City with John for an audition for a non-speaking role in a commercial for a casino; and we were able to stop and see our two grandsons that we hadn’t seen in over 3 years. What handsome and sweet little boys they have become. 🙂 I’m so glad that we had time to stop to visit. If you were interested, John didn’t get the part after all. Oh well maybe next time.

I was also able to finish up some crochet projects; lots of hats, crocodile stitch booties, a couple of scarves, a childs sweater and headband.

I especially love the picture of the two neighbor kids who came over early one Saturday or Sunday while I was still in my pajamas. First Christina asked to buy one of my minion hats and when she got back to her house her brother Matthew decided he wanted one too. So he came over with the money crumpled in his hand and handed it to me just like in the picture; as he said “I added a dollar for a tip”, with a big smile on his face. He made me smile and cry at the same time; I wanted to grab him and hug him but at the same time I knew I would have scared him so I didn’t. He wouldn’t have understood that at that moment I remembered Joshua at that age and how sweet he was and it made me miss him more. 😉

Oh by the way I didn’t have any luck in getting Sarah’s afghan done for her bridal shower, but I did manage to finish it up for her wedding on November 30th. There are 100 squares in all and as well as I can figure I have around 80 hours in it, give or take a few hours. I feel so blessed to have been able to take Mom to Sarah’s wedding and we got to see most of the family that we didn’t get to see on Thanksgiving. My Daddy would have been so proud to see that Sarah used his old Dodge truck for her wedding photos and I couldn’t help but think that he was smiling down on the occasion. 🙂

My first week back at work was very busy and I am always trying to catch up on the things that I left unfinished. John has been sick all week with a very bad head and chest cold. I have been around lots of people who have been sick and most of them have been sick for over 2 weeks. It looks like we have a ways to go before John is better since his immune system is in a weakened condition anyway with his diabetes. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I will talk to you soon.

  1. So sorry to hear that John isn’t well. I guess he needs to stay in bed as much as possible. Sending chicken-soup wishes to him, to get better 🙂
I think the crochet you do gets more and more incredible, especially when I see so many photos altogether like this. You really are my Crochet Queen SuperHero WonderWoman. And you STILL find the time to blog….:-) xxx

    • Thanks Jill! I told John that everyone is worried about him; he said AHHHH! 🙂 I hope you are doing ok today? Love and Hugs, Tamara

  2. Always glad to read your posts. You are one amazing woman! Hope John feels better soon.

    • Thanks Kelly for always being here to read my ramblings. I appreciate it more than you will ever know. I will give John your message. Love and Hugs, Tamara

  3. WOW -What a productive Fun and Eventful two weeks. Glad you had some time away from work. You always get so much done it makes my head whirl. You crochet so fast, Again, WOW! As always I especially love the scrappy projects.

I have taken some time to get out a few Christmas decorations and, meanwhile, I sort through my yarn and fabrics trying to decide which
projects to give up, on and what to work on next.

Sorry John has been sick. I have heard of so many having miserable cold that last a long time. It took me weeks (after completing the antibiotics) to finally get over the hacking cough I had. a few weeks ago.

I am looking forward to the Crochet Guild Christmas party. See you there.

    • Hi Linda! Thanks so much for loving what I talk about here and for always loving my pictures. Looking forward to the Christmas party and seeing all of you. Hugs, Tamara

  4. As always I enjoy your blog and I’ve really missed it. Love all the pictures and the granny square afghan is beautiful. Really like the one of Jennifer & Megan .. the wind blowing Megan’s hair!
Sorry John did not get that job .. tho he’s looking very good in his happy-pic.
As do you [very purple!!] & your Mom … and your crochet students … and your wad of bill$ [cute story!!] … and Hello Kitty hat … ETC.!!!

    Oh — I absolutely LOVE Sarah’s granny-squares afghan!!!!!
BTW, did you get my e-mail with photos of my grandson Caleb’s completed afghan?

The trip to OK City was not in vain, since ya got to see your 2 grandsons. (Whose kids are they??)
I hope John is feeling much better now, 3 days after you posted this!!
I had a massage today. It was heavenly. Would be nice for John to get one .. removes toxins from the body. But I get it just for the ahhhhhh…………..

    Love you, my friend!!
    Hugs & Smiles ~~ Kat

    • Oh Kat! I love hearing what you think about each and every thing that I talk about here. You make me smile! Yes, I did get your email on Caleb’s afghan. I just haven’t had a chance to tell you how beautiful I thought it was. (I guess I just did) LOL In answer to your question about the grandchildren; they are John’s middle child, Daniel’s boys. I am so glad that we were able to stop and visit with them. They are such sweet little boys and John’s smile on his face after we left there was priceless. Anyway, love you too my friend and hope you are staying warm. Tamara
