My weekend started off with the Junk in the Trunk Fashion Show. Ms. Aimee the owner of Junk in the Truck put out a message on Facebook asking for models for her Final Friday Junk in the Trunk Fashion Show. When I read it I immediately messaged her and told her that I would love to model in a fashion show and I am proud to say that I was the oldest person there.
Make up was provided.
Anyone could go next door at the Unique Barber Shop to have colored chalk put in their hair, Lystra sure looked sassy here, don’t you think?
Danielle and Lystra made my night by making me laugh so hard that tears rolled down my legs. 🙂 It’s funny how innocent they look in this photo but they had everyone cracking up laughing most of the time. Both of these young ladies are private CNA’s and if I ever needed a CNA I would love to have them taking care of me.
Misti is so cute and sweet; she is a Mary Kay consultant and came to do makeup, but I think she would be great at modeling too. She’s so photogenic.
Delaney looked adorable with colored chalk streaks too.
I loved being in the hustle and bustle of the shop on Friday night and can’t wait until my next modeling gig. 🙂
The other day my friend Linda emailed me and asked me if I had made a Minion hat yet. I told her that I had kept seeing them on the internet but hadn’t yet made one, but was interested in doing so. So I looked it up on line; I found a video tutorial made by Super Crochet Mom you can see all of her videos on her Facebook page here. I used the hat pattern that I use with all of my other animal hats (designed by Repeatcrafterme) and then watched Super Crochet Mom’s videos to see how to place the eyes and the mouth. I decided to make the one eyed Minion first and I am in the middle of making an adult sized two eyed Minion right now. I loved how when I posted a photo of the Minion hat on Facebook I got orders for 10 hats. Isn’t social media great?
On Saturday I met up with my friend Linda to sit and visit with her and crochet a bit.
Linda is knitting a baby afghan and I loved the way her nails looked against the pretty pink yarn.
Another one of my friends Jennifer is a knitter, spinner, and she can also crochet. On Saturday she was winding her spun yarn from a bobbin onto that thing that makes it into a hank. (I forgot what she called it) I was fascinated with it and loved hearing all about how she spins the roving into yarn. Her yarn was beautiful and I enjoyed spending time with both Linda and Jennifer.
Then it was time for my crochet Cowl Class. I had so much fun meeting two new people along with seeing four familiar faces. Thanks Jeanine, Liz, Elaine, Dona, Jan, and Deb for making my job so easy. I loved seeing all the different fibers that everyone chose to use and hope I get to see your finished projects.
Sunday was a very cool rainy day. Very unlike the end of July, but I had a great day of cooking, crocheting, napping, cooking, and cooking some more. I couldn’t help but take photos of John as he was eating his hot peppers with his breakfast.
He had already eaten two red Serrano peppers before he started eating this little jalapeno pepper. The Serrano peppers didn’t seem to be hot to him. But this little jalapeno was certainly heating him up. I couldn’t resist taking pictures of him enjoying his pepper.
He was trying to explain to me where the heat starts and how it feels.
He was also telling me that after the heat starts you have to make sure that you shove a piece of food in your mouth.
Oh how John enjoys his hot peppers and almost always has to have one or more every meal. He makes me laugh! I feel blessed that I had a great weekend of spending time with new and old friends. How was yours? Did you get to spend it with friends? I would love to hear all about it.
Had a lovely weekend, thank you, also included friends, good food, 2 episodes of the new Dexter, a movie, lunch out (again), and a lovely nap. Can’t you youTube John with his chillies???

Hi Jill!
I’m so glad you had a good weekend too and thanks so much for sharing it with me. I always love hearing about what you have done. What a great idea about video taping John. The only bad thing is that my new camera does not have video capability so I would have to search for my old one. (I gave it to John) He never uses it so I should take it back. 🙂 He’s a pretty good sport when I take pictures of him but we’ll see what he has to say about a video. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by to comment.

Hey Tammy. I am assuming your hands are getting better since you were able to do your blog this morning. I’ve missed you girl. Love the pictures of the junk in the trunk fun day. It’s always good to have some girl time with other girls. I especially like the first picture of you in your jean jacket – you are so pretty. The pictures of John are so funny. I can almost taste the peppers just by looking at the pictures. Love you girl. sw

WOWZA!!! No, make that a DOUBLE-WOWZA!!! What an outstanding photo of you, dear Tamara!! I think you ought to print it out, frame it, place it beside John’s side of the bed. 😉
Colored chalk in the hair, huh? What a GREAT IDEA!!
That just tickles me ~> that you got 10 orders for Minion hats.
Oh, btw … “tears” rolling down your legs, eh? hmmm……
Love the pic of John showing you where the heat from the HOT peppers starts. LOL! I don’t know *how* he can eat those. Ouch!
BTW, I just L-O-V-E your dishes!! Do you know the brand?
Funny that it is hotter here in northern ID than in Wichita. What a July we’ve had. Been enjoying our cherry tomatoes. How’s your garden coming?
Love and a BIG HUG!!!

Awwww Kat you are so kind! It’s pretty cool what some makeup, right set of clothes, and a good photographer can do. Yes, John cracks me up about his hot peppers. My dishes were bought at a garage sale and I think they were originally from Kohls. By the way my garden is doing good, lots of yellow squash, jalapenos, serranos, tomato plants are growing taller than me and I just found one last night that had fallen over. Still green tomatoes all over them but no ripe ones. I ended up pulling three off so that they could hopefully riped in the house. I will have to have John take a picture of me in my garden by the tomato plants to share with you. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment; now I have to get downstairs and get to crocheting on those minion hats. 🙂
Love you, Tamara

Gee, Tamara, you sure were fortunate to find those dishes in a garage sale. They look like the Fiesta ones that are sold at Kohl’s (& Macy’s), except yours have more ridges in them – which I really like. Glad your garden is doing so well. Please DO have John take your pic beside your taller-than-you tomato plants. 🙂
Huggies! ~~ Kat

Hi Steph!
Thank you for the sweet comment about the photo. The lady who took my photo is very good at what she does and brings out the best in anyone she photographs. I love hearing about your paintings and have seen them on Facebook. Very good job. I bet Colton is growing like a weed.
Love, Tamara

Sounds like a fabulous weekend, Tamara. Thanks so much for sharing. You look great in your photo, as do the other ladies and John’s pictures are fun. Seems like things are going very well in your neck of the woods. Yay! Don’t over do with the crochet. Congrats on the new orders. That hat sure is cute.
