Hello Friday! and I’m Looking Forward to this Weekend

1

First of all I will be having lunch with my best friend Debbie this fine Friday; we have been friends for many years. I think we finally came to the conclusion some time back that we have been friends since we were 10 years old. We grew up together, we got married, we had children together; we have laughed and cried together and we plan to grow old together (I hope I speak for you too, Debbie). I just wish we had more days to sit and crochet more. 🙂 Debbie and I have been getting together at lunch time for our birthdays for many years and March is Debbie’s birthday. We will be dining at Tanya’s Soup Kitchen today and I can’t wait to see her! Hopefully I will get an updated picture of both of us together too.

Lots of fun things are planned for this weekend; KS My Stitch Crochet Guild Officer’s Meeting tomorrow morning where I fix everyone lunch. On the menu for tomorrow will be creamy tomato basil soup with homemade croutons, I’m looking forward to seeing the ladies again and talking over future plans for the guild. Then I will be heading over to Twist to conduct the last session of the March Crochet 101 class. I’m looking forward to seeing the ladies again and to see if they are as excited about crocheting as they were last week. 😉

3

Then after the class John and I are going to stay at one of the newly remodeled historical Hotels here in Wichita to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. (March 14th) This is where I want to spend the evening; right there in that hot tub, soaking my sore and tired muscles. 🙂

I bet you thought I forgot about the crochet projects that I have been working on? No such luck. Here’s the baby cocoon sack that Shelly asked me to make for a shop model. I loved working with the bulky weight cotton yarn and I love how the completed project turned out.

5

Then I finished this cute as a button sailor hat for John’s cousin Irene’s yet to be born grandson. I hope she likes it as much as I liked making it. For those who are wondering if I had a pattern. No I didn’t, but I did write down the amount of stitches and the rows that I did so I could provide a little support if someone wanted to make a little sailor hat too. There are also lots of patterns on-line that you can use.

As I was looking through some of my photos I ran on to this one and I’m not quite for sure where I stuffed these cute little dahlia granny squares and stripey middle part. Now I’m on a mission to find them so that I can finish that blanket I started back in August.

Here’s the project that I’m working on now and I do love how this yarn already has the shiny sequins on it for just the right sparkle! I wished the real yarn color would come through on my camera, because it so much more deeper and richer looking in person. So what do you have going on? Are you planning a fun weekend too? I’ll see all of you on the flip side.

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. That’s a mighty long time to be with one person, it must be a testament to how lovely each of you is.
Enjoy the hot tub. (John, too). x

    • Oh Jill!

You have to get some sequined yarn to play with. It’s sock weight and oh so lucious. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment on our anniversary and yes some days it seems like forever and other days it seems like yesterday. 🙂 Marriage is hard sometimes, but it’s all worth it in the end. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

      Love,
      Tamara

  3. Well Happy Birthday to Debbie; and a very Happy Anniversary to both of you, Tamara and John! Best wishes to all!… Love the little sailor hat, and looking forward to seeing that afghan when it’s done. Love the dahlia squares. I haven’t tried those yet… As for me, I don’t know for sure what I’m doing this weekend, except for church on Sunday! I’d just like to get some crafting done, enjoy some free time baking maybe, and probably watching some movies on the dvd player! I hear the temperatures are gradually climbing around here. We may hit 50 in this coming week!!!! Hooray! I’m feeling encouraged that while Spring may not yet be very close, it’s at least on it’s way!…. Enjoy your weekend Tamara!

    • Hi Tina!

Thank you so much for loving what I talk about and make and for stopping by to tell me so. I’m so glad to hear that you have one day of your weekend to craft and watch movies. Sounds like my kind of day! It sounds like you may have some good weather coming your way. Our temperature for today is supposed to reach 65 and cloudy all day. I don’t mind the clouds and will welcome the warm weather. It was very nice to hear from you and hope your weekend is all that you want it to be.

      Love,
      Tamara

  5. First I would like to apoligize for not posting anything on the last blog. Its been a hectic week. We were in Branson Mo for three days and I had a basket class at the vo tech and I had a meeting in McAlister, Ok and the list goes on. We are going to the Raymonds pine wood derby today and will come back tomorrow. Happy Annivesary to my sweet cousin and her sweet husband. I love you both. I love the sequined purple yarn and I know whatever you make with it will be beautiful. You are so talented girl. Also like the the little sailor hat. Jerald is waiting for me to get the suitcase packed. Gotta get off of here. Love you. sw

    • Oh My Gosh Sue, you don’t have to apologize for not commenting on my blog. I know that you have lots of things going on in your life too. I hope you have a wonderful day and hope Raymond does well in his pine wood derby. Thanks so much for loving the things that I make and I’ll make sure I give John the anniversary wishes. I hope you have a safe trip. Love you, Tamara

  6. HAPPY Anniversary -Tamara and John Enjoy you time together. Will you crochet while in the hot tub? You do so many projects, it seems you must have a crochet hook in your hand at all times.

I look forward to seeing the Sequined number when it’s completed.
I think I may need to try that yarn as well. The little sailor hat is so cute.

Like sw, I did not post on the previous blog. Thinking about all the things I am thankful for was so overwhelming I had difficulty putting it into words.
    I will try now.
After the illnesses I have had over the past 2 years I am GLAD to be regaining health and strength. I am Thankful to and for my husband, Ray, and our family for the love and support they have given, and are still giving me as needed or requested. Ray has pushed me to go to the YMCA for both exercise and “socializing”, and to attend both Crochet and Quilt Guild activities. Sometimes it’s easier to just stay home. I’m happy to have opportunities to share my love of making useful (sometimes beautiful) items from fabric and fiber. I love all things fiber.

I’m glad to have shared interests with friends and especially with my two daughters (one crochets and is interested in sewing, the other sews/Quilts and is interested in crochet). I also have 3 step daughters who appreciate me and show interest in the crafts I do. I am glad to have had opportunities to share my love of sewing and to teach three granddaughters (as well as other children) to quilt/sew at Quilt Camp.
I could go on and on but will stop for now.

Thanks Tamara for helping me put my gratitude in writing.
I hope to do so more often in the future.

    • Hi Linda!

I’m so glad that you were inspired to write down the things that you are thankful for. I bet your family is thankful to have you still here with them. The daughter that I know seems to be very thankful for you. 🙂 I loved hearing about all of the things that you are thankful for.

      Hugs, Tamara

  7. Hi Tamara! ~ Here’s wishing you & John an extremely wonderful 21st anniversary. You two will be celebrating in style at that gorgeous place.. and you both deserve it. Hope the hot tub relaxes your muscles in a way you could not have even imagined. 🙂

Loving your crocheted items. I had a good laugh out of your not knowing where all your dahlia squares are. Good thing you came across your photo to remind you about them. LOL! Can’t wait to hear where you find them.

Have a super-duper loving weekend .. after which you can count down the weeks until you get to see Joshua!!!!!

    Love & Warmth ~
    Kat

    • Hi Kat!

Thanks so much for the anniversary wishes and yes I think that hot tub is going to make me very relaxed indeed.

Yes, I’m glad I found that photo too now I’m going to rack my brain trying to figure out where I shoved those little squares. 🙂 I’ll be sure and let you know when I find it.

Thank you for being here to read my ramblings and for always commenting. You make me smile! Have a great weekend yourself!

      Love and Hugs,
      Tamara
