This photo shows our front yard and how no one had stepped into it, yet. I remember when Joshua was little and it snowed, he would always be mad if he found tracks in our yard; because he wanted to be the first one to step into the snow in his yard. 🙂
My weekend started off with me going into work to make up the time that I missed on Thursday. The bad thing about having a snow day is the time that you have to use from your vacation time or in my case I chose to work and make it up. Please don’t get me wrong and think that I’m complaining because I’m not and I haven’t always had a job where I got vacation or sick leave. So I understand about the people who don’t have these kinds of benefits, when you miss work you don’t get paid; I feel blessed to have the benefits that I do have where I work.
After work I met up with John for lunch at Tanya’s Soup Kitchen and it was delicious as always. I had the Tomato Soup and John had the Chicken Tortilla soup. Then John and I went our separate ways. I ran by Hancock’s to purchase some black and red yarn to make another Crocheted Crusher Hat for an order I received on Friday. I couldn’t believe the parking lot with all the snow, slush, water, and ice that I had to wade through just to get to the front door. I could hardly believe I was risking my life to get yarn. But I’m sure most of you know that I would walk across the sea to get just the right yarn for just the right project. 😉
Later in the afternoon we decided that we needed a few groceries since we were supposed to have another big snow storm hit us again and we were running low on some things; so John went to the store. While he was gone I made dinner; a baked pasta dish with wheat Penne shells, garlic, onion, red bell pepper, spaghetti sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
Then I served broccoli and cauliflower on the side. John waited at the store while the bakery baked him a fresh loaf of Ciabatta bread, I was wondering why it was taking him 2 hours at the store. He had to call and report to me that all the shelves were almost bare from everyone stocking up for the upcoming storm.
As he arrived back I told him that we needed to take another picture of us together and he smiled and said ok.
Then I told him to look at me and instead he smooshed my nose and kissed me. 🙂 He’s so silly!
On Sunday morning I got a call from my niece Sarah who was visiting my Mom. She asked if we wanted to join them at Emilia’s for breakfast and of course we said yes.
It’s always nice to see Sarah and her boyfriend Tom. Sarah, come back when you can spend some time with me. We’ll sit and crochet something. 🙂
When we arrived back home I told John that I wanted to make two snow people; I wanted to make a woman and I wanted him to make a man.
So that’s what we did. It doesn’t matter to him what we do as long as we spend time together, as he felt of my forehead to see if I was sick.
We had a good time creating them and their faces. Don’t you love the grass that I added for his moustache? 😉
John even set up the tri-pod so that we could set the timer and have our picture taken with our snow people. The young neighbors across the street came out at the moment we were sitting down for our family portrait. They smiled and said that they thought the snow people were very cute.
After we went in and while I was waiting for John to get changed I finished the Crocheted Crusher Hat that I had purchased the yarn for the day before. I love how it turned out, but I’m not crazy about the black on me but it doesn’t matter because it will look great on Lee Ann who I made it for.
We went shopping at the mall for a little while and when we got back home the eyes and noses had fallen off of both the snow people. John got out and shoved the eyes back in and we readjusted the hats, but now they are just sitting there waiting for the next round of snow to hit us. I told John that they look like they are watching the neighbors across the street. I hope you all had a good weekend. I know I did, because I stopped and smelled the roses or technically I stopped and made a snow woman. 🙂
I love the snow people! And your hat!

That snow couple is adorable!! What a great idea. I’ll bet a lot of people smiled as they went by your house. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend. That pasta dish sounds very much like one I made on Saturday, cue the Twilight Zone music. LOL And the hat looks great, too! You are such a prolific crocheter!
Hope you have a good week!

Thanks so much Jeanne for loving the snow people and yes I bet a lot of people probably smiled, laughed, and wondered why two old people were out building snowmen. 🙂 Oh well I don’t care we had fun and a good laugh too. Thanks for loving my hat too and for stopping by to tell me so. Love and Hugs, Tamara

Oh Jill!
I wish I could send you just a little bit of the coldness we have here. I will feel the same way this summer when you are experiencing winter, right? Thanks so much for loving the snow people. 😉

Tamara

Tamara,
I had Floyd read your blog and suggested we build some snow people. He said he’d had enough of the snow shoveling all of it. He is so good to keep my car accessible for me so I won’t complain that he refused to build snow people. It makes me warm and fuzzy inside when your John is so kind and tender toward you. I know you count your blessings every day.
Keep warm,
Kaye

Hi Kaye!
Yes John is very sweet to do ALMOST anything that I ask him to do for me. He just kept asking me if I wanted to go somewhere and I told him that after we built the snowmen that I would like to go to JC Penney so I kind of bribed him a little. 😉 I know you appreciate Floyd; as he’s a good man too. Thanks for stopping by to comment.
Love,
Tamara

Hi Tamara ~ That is funny about Joshua getting mad if someone else made prints in *his* snow before he did. Here I was thinking he did not like it if someone did that … ‘cuz he liked the looks of the pristine UNtouched snow. Ha!
Your baked pasta dish looks yummy. Such a healthy meal that was – including your veggies … and bread with olive oil. Gee, John sure was determined to have his bread. 🙂
LOVE the self-portraits John takes of you two!!! The nose-smushing kiss is too cute.
Of course I got a real charge out of you guys making your snow couple … who are soooo adorable. It *is* amazing that John was willing to do that with you after all the shoveling. I love how he honors his {{wife}}.
Can’t believe March will arrive on Friday — and then it will be your weekend again.
Hugs ~

Hi Kat!
I thought you would get a kick out of Joshua. The first time he mentioned that he was mad that someone stepped in our front yard I thought the same thing. But NOOOO he jumped right in there and started making all kinds of footprints of his own. LOL
Thanks so much for loving the things that I make and do, even if it is quite funny sometimes.
I know what you mean about the end of another month and the beginning of another one. Supposedly we are to get some more heavy snow tonight; but we’ll see.
Love and Hugs,
Tamara

Hey Tamara ~ You ought to put Joshua’s “funny” into your journal on Funny Things y’all say & do. So what if it was in the past? I’m sure Joshua would do it again *now* if he were home. LOL! (And he would be up to his knees almost! .. Sorry about Wichita getting kicked a second time, and so soon!!!)
BTW, “way to go” about bribing John to make a snow guy. tee-hee!
Love ya ~ and thanks for all the smiles you gave me today!

Love your post about the snow and snow people. I can’t remember the last time that I made a snowman. Since I married Arthur ritus it hurts to go out side, in the cold with him. LOL But anyway I glad you and John got outside and played in the snow. Glad you got to visit with Sarah and your Mom. They are both so sweet. The pasta meal looked so good but then anything you make is always good. Tonite we are having b-b-que meatballs from Aunt Marthies recepie and then I will be going to the votech for my basket class. Unless they cancel the class because of the snow. Have a great week girl and don’t forget I love you.

Hey Sue! I’m so sorry that your arthiritus won’t allow you to get out in the snow. We had a good time and had a few laughs. Sounds like you have a fun evening ahead of you and oh those bbq meatballs sound yummy too. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment and remember I love you too! Tamara
