December 8-9, 2012 Weekend, More Hats, and Family

1

Ok, as promised I’m going to update you on last weekend. I know it’s already time for another one but here goes. Saturday morning we had our KS My Stitch Officer’s meeting. I made chili for lunch, although we didn’t go over too many things I still enjoyed being with Susie and Kaye and catching up on what’s been going on with them. Donna couldn’t make it because she was out hunting deer with her husband and son. We sure missed her. After our meeting it was time to head off to Twist to teach the December Crochet 101 class. It was fun meeting 6 more people who wanted to learn to crochet. I loved meeting each and every one of them; especially Linda who told me after the class was almost over that she had been following my blog for several years and had always wanted to meet me. Come to find out she had already taken the Crochet 101 class several years ago and had been a little preoccupied because her daughter told her that she was pregnant. She had always wanted to take one of my classes and wanted to get a refresher so that she could make slippers for several family members for Christmas. I got to see pictures of her little grandson and was so happy to finally be able to meet her. I’m looking forward to seeing all of them again tomorrow at the last session of the class.

After the class I stopped by Material Girls to drop off the Hello Kitty hats that Cathy had ordered. Cathy was very pleased with them.

When I arrived back home I had enough time to finish up the scarf that completed Cathy’s order.

Oh by the way she loved it as much as I did making it and that always makes me happy. I get such a kick out of seeing the peoples faces when they receive their orders. 🙂

4

Sunday I was able to finish up the other black sparkly Hello Kitty to complete my hairdressers order. I was able to deliver them to her on Wednesday and she loved them.

On Sunday afternoon I received a call from my sister telling me that my cousin Shirley was going to be at my Mom’s for a short visit and wondered if I would like to go up and see her. I decided to go since I hadn’t seen Shirley in a couple of years and I hadn’t seen Mom in a week. Sorry Shirley I’ll make sure I get a better picture of you next time. But I had a good time trying on the Hello Kitty hats as I feel like I’m going to turn into a Hello Kitty soon. Ha! Ha!

When I got to Mom’s house I had forgotten that Mom keeps her house very warm. Jackie and I usually dress in layers most of the time but especially when we go and visit Mom in the winter time. I made the mistake of wearing a velour top and right after this photo was taken the velour top came off. Then Jackie and I sat around in our camisole tops the rest of the time. It was so much fun seeing Shirley again; visiting and I especially enjoyed the laughter. I hadn’t laughed like that in a long time. You know that laugh that makes you almost stop breathing and then the tears come? I love that kind of laughter don’t you?

Anyway, throughout the week I finished up another Hello Kitty hat for Amanda (one of my co-workers). You may remember Amanda as Harper’s Momma? By the way Amanda says that the hat fit Harper perfectly and she’s going to take a picture of her. So I’ll post it as soon as she does.

Here’s another Hello Kitty hat that I made for someone who saw one of my owl hats on Brinklee on Facebook. I just love the power of word of mouth advertisement. 😉

8

I also made a ladybug hat for Pamela for her 2 year old niece.

I can’t wait to see how it actually looks on.

Then I made 2 more Kelly green and white hats in Derby colors. The lady who ordered these had seen someone with a green and white hat on at one of the games and the person wearing the hat gave the lady one of my business cards. Another great way to advertise; each time I sell one of my hats I give the buyer a few business cards. Anyway I feel like I have had a pretty productive week and I hope to have all my hat orders for Christmas done after this weekend. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I’ll talk to you then.

  1. Oh Tammy, you inspire me so much. I love the scarf with the flowers on it and of course I like the black hello Kitty. But the lady bug is adorable. I understand having to dress in layers when you go to your Moms house. My Mom went through a time when she would have her house very warm and everybody else would be dripping with sweat. Sorry I didn’t respond to your last blog entry. I know the emptyness that was in your heart and nothing I said would make it go away. When my family hurts I hurt. Love you girl. sw

    • Hi Sue!

Thanks so much for loving the things that I make. I thought maybe you would understand about the heat at Moms. 🙂 Please don’t feel bad about not commenting on my last post. I understand completely. Even though you don’t comment I still know you’re there and I know that you’re not the only one who gets me. Love you too, Cuz!

  2. Hi Tamara ~ Can’t wait too .. to see the ladybug hat ON.

I have Fox News on all day, watching the info about the horrific killing at the school in Newtown, CT. Tears flow becuz 3 of my grandkids are: kindergarten (!!), and in grades 2 & 4. They are in OR. Can’t think of anything else today.

    Love you ~

    • Hi Kat!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by to comment. I always look forward to hearing from you.

Like you I have been listening to the news on the tragedy. I feel so badly for the families of the children and adults who were killed and I have thought of hardly anything else too.

      Love and Hugs,
      Tamara

      • Hi Tam! ~ I texted my daughter near the end of her work shift. She phoned me when she got home. It was good to talk (& cry) with her. I am glad it is now the weekend for all school kids … and for YOU!

        xoxo ~ Kat

  3. It was so fun before class today. My daughter loved the penguin hat. We need to keep in touch. Thanks so much for being patience with me and all my questions.

    • Hi Linda!

I’m so glad that you were there early and we had a chance to just sit and visit. We will have to do that more often. I will email you and maybe we can sit and crochet again before my January Crochet 101 classes. And please don’t ever stop asking questions. 🙂

      Hugs,
      Tamara

  4. Beautiful hats Tamara. So glad to have met you at the hospital.
