October 13-14, 2012 Weekend with Family and Friends

First of all I was commissioned to make an owl hat for a 6 month old. After I started the hat the buyer sent me a message that the colors that she had given me were incorrect. I decided to go ahead and finish it anyway. I wasn’t worried about not being able to sell the incorrect colored owl hat; because whoooooo doesn’t love owls?

When I took the hat to work on Friday, Amanda fell in love with the incorrect colored owl hat and had to own it for her daughter, Harper.

I don’t know about you but I think Harper looks adorable in the now very correct colored owl hat?

So then I proceeded to make the commissioned hat from the correct colors and I do love the way that it turned out. I hope the buyer and recipient love it as much as I loved making it.

Saturday morning I met up with my friend, whose Mother had a delightful addiction for clothes shopping; she wanted to find the clothes good homes. So I helped her out by taking my Mom and my good friend Rosina shopping at her house. We all had such a good time and have decided that my Mom looks good in every color but one (for the life of me I can’t remember which color it was), my friend was delighted to give the clothes and my Mom and Rosina were delighted to have new clothes. So in turn that helped make me feel good too. 🙂

After shopping we went back to Mom’s house and had lunch of vegetable beef soup, fresh cucumbers, and stewed apples. Yummy! I think my Mom makes the best soup ever. Or maybe it’s just because I didn’t have to make it or both. 😉 When Rosina and I left Mom’s house we went back to my house to relax and sat and crocheted and talked. It’s been a very long time since we did just that and I think we should do it more often.

Saturday evening while John and I watched a movie I finished up this crocheted headphone hat that I was commissioned to make for a 3 month old for a Halloween costume.

Sunday morning I decided to make something special for my friend Lisa, who was coming to visit me and was interested in my owl teapot cozies. She also had shared that she had found a miniature teapot that was in need of a cover. So I set out to make the cutest darn owl teapot cozy I have ever seen. I made one side of it in purple

and the other in turquoise. (I know, imagine that?) I love how it turned out and Lisa seemed to love it too. Her and her grandchildren are going to have a blast having tea parties with their new owl cozies.

While Lisa was visiting we sat and talked as I crocheted and she knitted. I managed to make this owl hat, but not before I removed the braids and the ears, added eyelashes, took the eyelashes off, added purple in the braids and the ears, put the braids and ears back on, took the nose (beak) off, made the nose (beak) bigger, took the smaller buttons off, and sewed bigger buttons on. I had to walk away, because the base of the eyes were going to be the next thing to come off and made bigger. Oh by the way it was also supposed to be for an 18 month old but the hat will fit someone about 6 or 7.  I hope someone loves this owl hat as much as I loved/disliked making it. 🙂 Whewwwww I’m done. I know I had a wonderful weekend with Mom and my friends. I hope everyone else had a good one please feel free to share your weekend with me.
