September 1-2, 2012 Weekend, More Round Crocheted Washcloths, Little Bag Lined, and My Megan Turned 10

This last weekend I planned on trying to get lots of crocheted items added to my stash of goodies that I plan on putting in the October 6, 2012 Hesston Barn Sale. Well, I feel good about what I accomplished. As you can see I finished 4 more washcloths.

Whoops these pillow cases are not for sale but I feel good about finishing them up and I do love how they turned out. Now that they’re done, I wonder why it took me so long to get around to making them.

My daughter Jennifer came over and had lunch with me on Saturday and I love that she never thinks that I’m crazy even when I ask her to try on hats and pose for pictures in them in front of my purple door. She has always looked good in hats.

Made another cell phone case and I do love how this one turned out, from the covered buttons, colorful striped body, down to the very last bead. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!!

Sunday morning I crocheted along the edge of a towel,

crocheted around another washcloth,

lined my little bag,

crocheted a loop, and made a covered button for the little bag. I love the way this little bag turned out. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it too!!!!!

I covered a few more buttons.

I love the 10 washcloths all stacked up and how they look and feel. Can I say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them too?????? 🙂

And my Megan’s birthday was yesterday. I can’t believe she’s already 10 years old. It seems like only yesterday when we spent Labor Day weekend at the hospital and how I was so scared for my daughter’s life and her unborn baby. Megan came into this world at 3 lbs. 3 ozs. As you can see in the photo of her in my arms she was still so small at around 4 lbs. I was rather scared to hold her because she was so small and I was afraid that she would squirm right out of my arms, but she never did.

Megan grew,

grew,

grew,

grew,

and grew some more.

Now she’s 10 and in the 4th grade. She just can’t be this old, because I can still remember when I was 10. So how does this happen? Where does the time go? I know the older you get the faster time goes by, right? That’s what my Mom always says and you know Mom is always right. 😉 So how was your weekend? I would love to hear all about it.

  1. Megan is gorgeous. She looks good enough to eat, and I know how proud you are of her. The montage of photos is wonderful. x

    • Hi Jill!

We think she’s pretty too and yes I’m very proud of my granddaughter as any Gran Gran should be. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by to comment.

      Love and Hugs,
      Tamara

  2. Love the washclothes and expecially the pillow cases. I can tell you worked hard all weekend. The little bag is adorable with the lining in it. Love the pictures of Megan gowning up-she is such a cutie.

Laundry is on the agenda for today and making some muffins to put in the fair. Tomorrow I will finish up every thing else that goes in the fair and start packing all my fair goods. Wednesday and Thursday will be fair days for which I am one of the superentendants and after Thursday we will be going to Newkirk, Oklahoma for a weekend at the lake and to help with a celebration they do once a year. Have a great week girl and don’t forget I love you. sw

    • Hi Sue!

Thanks so much for liking the things that I made and thanks for the sweet comment about Megan.

Wow it sounds like you are going to be very busy this week and what a wonderful way to end it all with a weekend at the lake. Love you too!

  3. Just loving that little bag and the pillow cases are super too. Happy Birthday Megan- quite grown up! My weekend was mostly enjoying the last days of summer, picking tomatoes and a little bit of wooly fun!

    • Hi Cathy!

Thanks for liking the things that I do and I’ll make sure I let Megan know that you said Happy Birthday. Thank you so much for sharing your weekend with me. I l-o-v-e homegrown tomatoes!!! I just wished my little plant would have produced more than 3 this year. Oh well, there’s always next year too. I’m glad you made some time to play with yarn too. That always makes me happy.

      Hugs,
      Tamara

  4. Happy Crochet Day, Tamara! 😉 [which means this day is no different than any other for you .. except that it is a day off from work – LOL!]

Ooohhh… such a lovely variety of washcloth colors. I was just wondering the other day what the date in Oct. is for the Barn Sale. Now I know. Hope you have a table big enough to display all your goodies. 🙂

You said those LOVELY pillowcases are not for sale. I’m hoping that means these are for YOU, right?

Oh goodness! There are just so *many* pretties in this post. Your crochet art. You have the advantage of knowing how to sew also — which makes such a nice completion .. the lining in your bag. Purrty!

I absolutely love the way you displayed Megan’s photos on the crocheted ?afghan? So artistic!! A belated HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY to Megan! You know I love the final photo of her … with the kitty outfit and the leopard leggings. Awesome!

And YES! As you are already feeling, these days/weeks/months go by sooo fast as we age. Weird, huh? I guess that’s God telling us to be sure to enjoy each day as it comes ‘cuz they do whiz by.

It is almost time for me to hang my laundry outside. We are lately having purrfect weather. Mostly sunny and highs around 75º .. yet around 90-95 in the hot sun in our back yard! Enjoy the rest of this day. Tomorrow it will be part of ‘the past’.

    Love you much!
    Kat

    • Oh Kat!

I always love reading what you think about my post. Thanks so much for always being here and thanks for liking the things that I do. I’ll make sure I wish Megan a happy birthday from you. And yes you are so right about God telling us to enjoy each day and I try to. As long as I get to crochet a little bit every day that makes me happy. 😉 Man I would love to be in your part of the country. It was 106 degrees today and not much wind, the plus side of that though is the wet clothes would have dried really fast. OH by the way yes the pillow cases are for my bed and John and I are enjoying looking at them and leaning on them as we watch tv at night.

      Love you my Friend,
      Tamara

      • Tamara!

I would LOVE it too .. if you were in my part of the country!! We are having slight breezes .. which helps dry the wash *and* cool me off when I’m in the back yard. It is so weird that is can be 70º in the north shaded outside area of our home … yet 101º on our south-facing patio. [I have digital thermometers to prove it.] Such a huge difference!!

So glad those pillowcases are *yours* — and that you ‘n John are both enjoying them while watching tv. Homemade is grand .. and so are you & John. 🙂

        Huggies ‘n Snuggles ~

  5. Love all the family photos, the hats you made, and the pillowcases are gorgeous!… And big HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY wishes to Megan too! Glad to hear you enjoyed your weekend Tamara! We had a nice one too, getting to visit with my brother, and the rest of my family… It’s such a shame we all visit together so seldom; but we had an AWESOME time, and I’m grateful for it!.. Good food, lots of laughs and catching up. I took lots of pictures!

    • Hi Tina!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for telling me about your weekend. I loved seeing the pictures on Facebook and it looks like you did have lots of fun. Thanks for sharing.

      Love and Hugs,
      Tamara

  6. I love the pillow cases, can you tell me whether there is a published pattern for laces you made. They’re eye candy. ;D

    • Hi Heather,

Thanks so much for stopping by to comment on the pillow cases. Sorry to say though that I didn’t make the lace edging on them. I found the two pieces at an antique store. I’m sure they were taken off of a pair of pillow cases that had worn out. Crocheted doilies and laces are here to stay as long as Moths don’t get a hold of them or someone cuts them. 🙂 I have some pieces that are from the early 1900’s and earlier. Anyway thanks again for stopping by and it’s always nice to hear from you.

      Hugs,
      Tamara
