Happy Friday and Another Cool Idea

I hope everyone is having a good week; mine has gone by quite quickly and I like it that way. 🙂 Do you remember when I told you all that I had a cool idea to share with you? Well as I started writing it down I started to doubt that anyone else would think it was so cool. But I’m going to share it with you anyway. 😉 The other day as I was taking the vintage inspired buttons off of the Mollie Makes button card, I couldn’t seem to throw the card that they were attached to away. The fiber it’s made out of is very durable and seemed like a waste to throw it out.

At the same time that I sewed the red buttons onto the hat I thought about the buttons that I had been covering and wondered what they would look like on the Mollie Makes button card. So I laid some of them on the card and I liked the way they looked so I tied my covered buttons onto the card and voila I love the covered buttons on the durable card.

After that I began to think about the old vintage buttons and buttons cards that I’ve been collecting for several years. I still couldn’t bring myself to sew my covered buttons onto these cute vintage button cards,

but I don’t have a problem sewing the buttons to these cards and selling them at the Hesston Barn Sale on October 6th. I also love the idea of recycling the button cards. So what do you say silly or cool idea? I would love to hear what you think.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and hope that you are able to do whatever you feel like doing; whether it’s sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, or crafting of any kind.  🙂

  1. I’d love to have a go at making some fabric covered buttons…the look so lovely!

    • Hi Hannah!

You should definitely try it out. I love using them on crochet or knitted items; heck I really just love the way they look on most anything! Thanks so much for stopping by to comment.

      Hugs,
      Tamara

  2. I love the idea of reusing your button cards – your fabric buttons look great on them 🙂

    • Laura,

Thanks so much for liking the button card idea. You should definitely use it for your wonderful covered buttons! But oh my you would need so many button cards for those orders of 100 buttons. 😉

      Love and Hugs,
      Tamara

  3. I really would need a LOT of cards for that many buttons! But if I see any I think I might have to snap them up for reuse 🙂

    • Yes I agree you should. I wish they still made them with little flowers, women’s faces, or filligrees on them like they used to. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. I hope you have a wonderful day. 🙂

  4. They are really cute but, would there be a problem with copyright law, if you are selling buttons you made, and put on cards with company names?

    • Hi Linda!

I have thought about the copyright laws too, but wonder if it would be ok as long as I tell them that they are my buttons.? Good question.

      Thanks for stopping by, Tamara

  5. Oh Tamara, you are just too clever for words. I’ve no idea about the copyright issue, but I did think about the importance of letting people know you covered the buttons. I must say I am surprised you are willing to depart with those button cards .. tho you found a great re-use for them. 🙂

    Love ya bunches ~

    • Hi Kat!

Thanks so much for liking my idea and as usual I always tell everyone how and why I do the things that I do when I’m selling things in my booth. I spend a lot of time talking with people and tell them how I come up with the ideas. The people seem to really like my stories and tell me that the item means more to them after they hear the story behind it.

      Love you Too!
      Tamara

  6. Only you would think of an idea like that – I think it’s a wonderful idea,”go for it” as I hear so much. Love your blog.
    Kaye

    • Hi Kaye,

Thanks so much thinking my idea is a good one and thanks for loving my blog. I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. It seems like a month. HAHAHAHA I know not quite but almost. 😉

      Hugs,
      Tamara

  7. Of course I love the idea of putting your covered buttons on the button cards. I too am concerned about the copyright laws. Could you type up a sticker on the back telling about your covered buttons. Just a thought. Anyway hope you have a wonderful weekend. sw

    • Hi Sue,

Thanks so much for stopping by to comment and to give me another good idea. I can make up a label for the back of the card with a short explanation.

      Love you,
      Tamara

  8. I agree and excellent idea for use of old button cards. I have to confess to having lots too. I have inherited buttons and button tins from both my Mum, who said she doesn’t need hers anymore and from my grandmother. All three of us have used husbands tobacco tins! I feel a blog coming on to share my buttons. I will mention your blog so that I am not guilty of plagiarism!

    • Cathy,

I loved hearing about your inheritance of buttons and button cards. If you ever don’t want them anymore you know where to send them. 😉 I can’t wait to read your blog post on your button collection and I’m glad you’re going to share a link to my blog. That makes me happy. 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

      Hugs,
      Tamara

      • Hi, Just to let you know I have written my blog inspired by yours. Afraid I’m not sure how to do a proper link, but please feel free to comment on the blog and leave your details so people can see your lovely ideas. Thanks so much.
