Deciding on What to Crochet Next, Another Cell Phone Case and Vintage Hot Pad Dress

I know it may not seem like it; but sometimes I just don’t know what to make next. When those times come around I usually go for a drive, or walk around in my yard, or look through old and new magazines, yesterday I cruised through my Vogue Knitting Crochet magazine and found some really fun inspiring crochet pieces. Like this beautiful Rowan ad, now doesn’t that just make you want to start crocheting a shawl?

It does me too but I have so many works in progress (WIP’s) that I can’t think about starting one more yet. But it was fun looking through the magazine and as soon as I get some of my WIPs completed maybe I’ll make a shawl?

While I was deciding on what to work on next I made another cell phone case. This time I used a ribbon yarn, held together with a sock weight acrylic yarn. This ribbony cell phone case is a little heavier than the “I Love This Yarn” ones that I made before. But I do love how it turned out and how I was able to use one of my vintage buttons from my button stash.

Then I decided to try my hand at another one of the vintage hot pad dresses. It’s funny but it’s very hard for me to use the same colors that the pattern calls for (pink and white). I couldn’t settle for just two, so I used 5 or 6. I do love the way this one turned out with all those waves of color. I especially like the red and white polka dot fabric covered buttons and how they add just the right pop of color to the little hot pad dress.

Well, I had better get back to working on some of those WIP pieces so that I can eventually start a shawl. Anyway I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and if you are in Wichita or near here you should check out the Prairie Quilt Guild’s Common Threads Quilt Show this weekend at Century II, Friday and Saturday from 10-5. Bye for now and happy crocheting or crafting or whatever you like to do. 🙂

  1. Hey, where IS everybody? As for myself, I was very, very happily busy yesterday & today with 3 of our grandkids (Paul, 10 – Joe, 8 – Sarah, 5). What a blast! Especially cuz they will be moving to OR (way down to southern OR, with us way up here in northern ID) some time this summer, possibly within a month. We are not travelers as you are, Tamara. Plus, I just won’t leave my Miss Emma. Anyway, the kids (unexpectedly) got to spend the nite with us. So I’ve been in my glory.

LOVE your purple/blue/green cell phone case. That’s my fave color combo (in case I haven’t already said so). And there’s yet again a beautiful hot pad dress. You are outdoing your own self, kiddo! 😀

Did I tell you Summer finally hit us .. right on the first day of Summer! Told ya it was waiting. tee-hee! Was 83 yesterday & today. We took the kids to the little water-park/playground in our subdivision yesterday. Spent about 1½ hrs there. Lovely!

Have a great weekend, Tamara. Hope you are enjoying a Friday nite movie with John.

    Love ya ~

    • Hi Kat!

I’m so glad that you got to spend some time with your Grands. I love hearing about how you had a chance to enjoy your summer weather and with the grandkids at the water park thingy. We just returned from the movie “Brave” in 3D. We enjoyed it.

      Love you my friend!
