It seems like my week has gone fairly fast and yes, I know that I always say this; but I’m really glad it’s Friday.
Ok, so shoot me; I decided to move away from my Dahlia Throw for just a short vacation and get some instant gratification from crocheting something smaller. Besides that I was afraid that John was going to get tired of seeing the 4 cans that I had saved from making chili last week on the kitchen cabinet and throw them in the recycle bin.
So I decided to make each of my naked cans a cute little crochet jacket. I love the way they all turned out.
I know. I may have gotten a little carried away with the ruffles on this one, but once I added a few rows there was no turning back. 🙂
I thought they were so cute and decided to take them to work and show the people who enjoy seeing what I’ve been creating. (this little number is staying on my desk for pens and such) My co-worker Constance (who I made the Motherhood for) told me that there is a Twelve-Step-Program for my illness. (mentioned with a big smile) Then Rosina told me that once I completed the program that I would probably have to embellish the plaque that I get, with a little crochet. (mentioned with a very big laugh) Hey! At least I’m not making toilet paper roll covers. Ha! Ha!
I have to tell you about my husband the neatnik, not to be confused with a beatnik. 😉 I keep a stack of scarves behind my door so that when I leave my house I can grab whichever scarf that suits my fancy as I’m heading out the door. When I come back into the house I usually throw them back into the stack, not taking the time to fold each one. The other day I went to throw my scarf that I was wearing onto the pile of scarves and noticed that they were all neatly folded and stacked. I’m not sure what I’ve done to deserve such a neat husband as I have and I’m not sure why I’m mentioning it now. All I know is that I don’t want to ever forget how good he is to me and to make sure that I mention to him how much I appreciate him more often.
Oh by the way here’s the progress on my Dahlia Throw. Believe it or not there are 34 centers, 5 squares incomplete and 9 squares completed in this photo. I know it sure doesn’t look like that many and I still have 3 more centers to make before I’ll have 42 in all. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and make sure you tell your husbands or significant others how much you appreciate them. Happy Crocheting!
Still love those crochet-covered cans! I’ve GOT to try them; but I think I may have to pry my hands from the afghan first, as I’ve really been enjoying working on that! Love how your dahlia afghan is starting to come together, and can’t wait to see it done… Honestly, I don’t know HOW this week flew by so FAST! How did that HAPPEN?!! (0; Well, whatever you’ve got planned, enjoy your weekend, Tamara! ((hugs)) ~tina

Hi Tina,
I love your wool-eater afghan and love all the colors. Thanks for stopping by and once you get free of that afghan maybe you will have a few ends left to make some of these cute little can covers. 🙂
((Hugs back to you)),

Hey ~ I actually *want* to make a tp cover, but I have not found a pattern for a mega roll. So there. 😉
Sure am glad your Mr. Splotchy Neatnik did not get to your empty cans before you covered them. Folding your scarves was welcomed. LOL
One of these days, I will make a dahlia … not a dahlia afghan, just a dahlia. They are so cute. [and so are YOU!!]

Hi Kat!
You make me smile. 🙂 And good luck with that tp cover. I could actually see one with stripes of different colors. OOOHHH I may just have to do that; you just never know. Oh my gosh where’s the phone I need to call my friends with the twelve step program so they can talk me down off of the wall.
Love you my Friend,
Tamara
