Japanese Shawl Naming Contest Names and a Couple of Other Things

If you are joining us here at Crochet With Tamara for the first time or haven’t heard about the contest that I’m having; I’ll explain what I’m talking about. I made a shawl from a Japanese crochet book that’s written in Japanese, but it has lovely charts that I can read. Anyway I’m sure that the book has a perfectly good name already picked out for the shawl but since I don’t read Japanese I decided to have a shawl naming contest for my shawl. If you want to see the prizes again go here. And now here are the names that some of you came up with in alphabetical order:

Berry Oragami Explosion–Angie

Blushing Flowers–Kaye

Catch a Falling Star–Sue

Celestial Rhapsody–Rayma

Cheerful Hana Shawl–Kathryn

Comet Trail–Annie

Oragami Lace–Linda McHugh

Over the Rainbow–Susie

Rainbow Stars–Kat

Star Garden–Maria

Summer Aurora–Kat P.

Watching for Fall–Linda Meyer-Gosling

Wow, I could tell you all put a lot of thought into your names and I can’t believe how easy they sounded after hearing them. So now your work is cut out for you. Please vote on one name per person either by posting a comment here on this blog post, email me at, or if you’re my friend on Facebook you can leave a comment there. You can tell all your friends to vote for your name and have them come and visit my blog or send me a message on email and I’ll keep track of them. You have one week from yesterday, in other words until Thursday, July 14th and then I will reveal the winners on my Friday, July 15th post. Good luck to all of you.

I’m still working on my socks; see I’m almost to the part where I start the heel. I’m so slow at knitting; Rosina already has her socks completed and has started back on another pair. She’s probably close to being done with them too. Ugh, I don’t like how slow knitting is, but the final product is really rewarding so I will continue to plug away on them.

Of course I can’t just knit socks I have to pick up my crochet hooks too and I have started a cute little birthday surprise for someone special. I’ll tell you all about it after that special someone receives it.

Oh man, I even started an Elise shawl with some laceweight yarn that I purchased on the Yarn Shop Hop last year. The yarn is Fiesta Gracie and is made from 70% Extrafine Merino, 15% silk, and 15% cashmere. It’s so soft and I am really enjoying working with it. I think the Elise shawl will look very pretty out of this fine yarn. Well it’s time for the weekend again and I’m looking forward to it and hope you have a wonderful one and happy crocheting!!!!
