June 3-5, 2011 Weekend Part 1

Definition of tired: drained of strength and energy: fatigued often to the point of exhaustion. Here are some synonyms related to tired: all in, beat, beaten, bushed, done in, drained, exhausted, fatigued, played out, worn out, and pooped! All of these describe how I’m feeling right now. But I’m not complaining because at the same time it feels good to know that I had such a wonderful weekend like this one was and was able to spend some time with my daughter Jennifer and teach her how to separate an egg. And oh my gosh, just to be able to watch my little Megan play with the things that I found for her to play with when she comes to my house was just beautiful. I was so blessed to spend time with so many family members and dear friends at my Moms 80th birthday party and I’m sure you are all wondering if I had time to crochet too and the answer to that would be yes a little. If you will notice that my doll now has 2 new little baby kimono sweaters for her very own. Now I am going to be lazy and just share my weekend with you through pictures in two parts. I hope you don’t mind and I wish everyone a wonderful restful week.

This is the look she gives me when she has had enough of her picture being taken. Ha! Ha! The only thing she asked for was some high heel shoes to dress up in. I guess you know what I’ll be looking for my next thrift store visit?

  1. Megan did look like she was having a grand time with the thrifted goodies.
I hope you got a little rest on Sunday, you hard working woman!
Thinking my 50+ year old doll might need a little jacket like that one on your doll. Right now I have just started the Elise shawl in a cream/off white and need to see it through, but for today I will be hiding out in the guest/sewing/craft room and finishing up a couple little girls dresses, so they can wear them before they out grow them, ha!

    • Susie,

I think that Megan really did have a good time with the thrifted things. I did rest on Sunday and thank you for asking.

I think your 50+ doll would love to have a little kimono jacket like the one I made mine. Some little fairy might just happen to make one for her:)

I can’t wait to see your Elise shawl and I bet you will have it done before next guild meeting, right? Make sure you take pictures of the little dresses that you’re making too.

      Love,
      Tamara

  2. Oh, I LOVED this post, Tamara!!! LOVE that your granddaughter had so much fun with your doll, and playing dress up!!! The little kimono sweaters look so CUTE on your dolly! Your cakes look DELICIOUS, and I’m thinking I may need to make something similar for around here.. BEFORE it gets too hot! The temps are slowly rising again, and I’m just trying to brace myself for it!.. Stay cool, take some well earned rest, and just enjoy your day! ~tina

    • Hi Tina,

Thank you so much for commenting and loving all the things that I talk about and make. I do wish I knew where I put my other dolls, because I do have 2 more that I really want to find. I would love to send you the recipe for the pineapple upside down cake if you would like it? The cake itself is a hot water sponge cake and you substitute the pineapple juice from the can of pineapple rings for the hot water. Man I don’t recall the cake being that sweet but I don’t eat a lot of sweets anymore and when I do everything does taste so much sweeter. The temps here are supposed to be in the 100’s, gosh what happened to spring?

      Love & Hugs,
      Tamara

  3. I want to be Megan.

    Steph

    • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

    • Steph,

You are so cute. You know you can come over and play anytime you want!

      Love you,
      Tamara

  4. mahahaha so many great pictures. megan is hilarious. is that her washing dishes?? noice. (nice.) are you posting “part two” on wednesday?? ahahahahhah i don’t know why but that’s funny to meh. i am so very tired as you know. i really really really wish i could be home so we could just lie around and be tired and crochet and watch a movie together. tha end. i love you!

    • Oh Chacho Aaron,

The things that are funny to you; makes me smile. Yes, Megan was washing some of the dishes; all plastic and non breakable. She wondered if I had any more knives in the water and she seemed a little apprehensive to stick her hand back into the water even after I told her there was only the one butter knife.:)

I wish you could be here with me too so that we could be lazy and watch a movie and crochet together again. Maybe some day we can do that again?

      Love you so much,
      Momma

  5. Oh gosh ~ The leopard dress really looks good on Megan. Love it!

I was thinking was a nice photo of her that is — the one where (as I read about it after admiring it) she has her “ENOUGH PHOTOS!” look. It is a good look, Megan! 🙂

Great improvise for a ‘cradle’ for her new/old baby doll. 😉
And tiny baby-doll kimonos. Now how cute is THAT!!!

It is a sad world when you have to go to work in order to get some relaxation. haw-haw-haw!!!

    • Kat,

I couldn’t believe how cute the dress looked on her either. She didn’t care for the veil at all (I think it pulled on her hair too much). But she didn’t mind leaving the hat on for a while. You also noticed where it ended up, right? (on top of the fan)

I knew you would notice the cradle improvision. That was one more thing she asked; was where will the baby sleep, so I pulled the magazine rack over and she seemed to be ok with that.

Thank you for liking the baby doll kimonos. I thought they turned out cute too.

I sure didn’t want to come back to work today, but I’m glad that I did, because I would’ve laid around and I would’ve gotten even more lazy. Ha! Ha!

      Love,
      Tamara
