Middle of the Week Again; May 18, 2011

You know how when you crochet something and you give it to someone and you hope that they like it? You worry and fret about how it wasn’t perfect, and the person that received it crochets all the time, and is probably an expert crocheter. What if they don’t like it? Is it going to end up in a garage or estate sale and someone sells it for a dollar? I know I’m rambling, but that’s just how I felt when I mailed off the item. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m talking about the doily that I made for the first place prize winner in the Naming my Afghan contest. I felt very relieved when I heard from the winner (Donna Dixon) and her exact words were:

“OH, my GOSH!!!! it came today!!!!! goodie goodie goodie!!!!! the doily is beyond Beautiful P.S. it is as big as a table topper. ha ha. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! even Dad said it was beautiful! you do amazing work Tamara.” ~~~sigh~~~~I couldn’t believe all the explanation points and capital letters and these were the exact words that I needed to hear. I think she likes the doily and the words and picture made me smile and cry at the same time. What’s going on with you this beautiful Wednesday?

  4. Tamara, I was amazed to see this piece in person.. Impossible for anyone who enjoys crochet to NOT love it. You are talented and generous and funny! I am so happy to read the response from Donna, I think it was just the right amount of delight.

Thanks for sharing all that you do and for the emotional “behind the scenes” of a creative soul.. makes me feel normal for the sudden bursts of tears and giggles lately!

But the doily certainly deserves such high praise! It’s GORGEOUS work! Well done, Tamara!

      • No worries! I haven’t posted much of consequence lately since I’ve been trying to catch up on projects after a busy event a couple weeks ago. Gotta get cracking! =)

  6. As RJ said, the doily is “a stunning piece of artwork”. And Donna is also quite stunning – lovely photo of ‘them’ together. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your emotions, Tamara, and the pic. You rock!!

    • Kat,

  7. Aww… That’s wonderful Tamara! I do understand what you mean. It’s nice to know when someone truly appreciates what you make and give to someone, and all that went into it… most importantly, I think, love… Have a great weekend! ~tina
